The purpose of this site is to provide documentation for family members that wish to join the Sons of Confederate Veterans, or the Sons of the American Revolution. As such the documentation is always being update as new information is discovered. The site provides documentation from Richard Parker through present generations.
I am member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I can prove with documentation, not tradition that our Parker line is connected to Richard Parker from Browsholme Hall.
This would not have been possible without the life’s work of many people. William Roger Parker was a cousin that was close to my Grandmother, Elizabeth Parker, and her sister Olene Parker. Roger inspired me to look into our past. He always shared his work freely over the years. As a young kid I didn’t understand the importance of his work. I have memories as young boy, sitting at the table in Olene’s kitchen listing to Roger talk. As an adult I was amazed at the family documentation he had collected. I wanted to know more, and started my life’s journey. I discovered that I had a knack, and love for genealogy research.
I can never express enough gratitude to George Thomas Parker. It was his research, and DNA testing that match Roger Parker. A new DNA group called Parker Group 38 was created. This allowed me to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
He too has shared his work with me. I wished I had met him sooner in life. Fate is odd sometimes. He lived so close just outside of Columbus, GA. I could have past him on the road many times, but George was unknown until he located me in 2010.
JD Bedsole was a pivotal provider in documentation, and research. He inspired me to continue on researching, even when faced with over whelming odds. His work crossed our family’s line with the marriage of Rhoda Bedsole to John Parker III.
Dennis West is the National Coordinator for the Parker DNA project. He also provided many useful documents, and I am grateful to his help.
